Analog for Mac
Your laptop is the other half of your screen time. Analog measures it the same way it measures your phone, and holds a block there too.
Analog for Mac is free while it is new. It is not on the App Store, because the things it does for you are things a sandboxed app is not allowed to do.
1. Download and move it to Applications
Open the disk image and drag Analog to Applications. It has to live there: macOS will not let an app register a background item from anywhere else, and blocking outside the browser depends on that item.
2. Open it and follow the setup
Analog lives in the menu bar. On first open it shows you what it still needs, and it stays honest about that afterwards: if you ever switch something off, the same panel tells you what stopped working.
3. Add the browser extension
This is what lets Analog see sites by name instead of counting everything as the browser, and what lets you block one site rather than all of them. Install it in the browser you actually use.
It works without an account
Everything the Mac app measures and blocks works signed out. Signing in is only for bringing your iPhone's day here and carrying your blocks between devices.
Sites stay on your Mac
The extension has no server of its own. What it measures goes to the Analog app on the same computer and nowhere else. The one thing that travels is the list of sites you chose to block, because a block set on your phone has to be enforceable on your laptop.
Requires macOS 15 or later
Apple silicon and Intel. Analog is notarized by Apple and updates itself, and it will always ask before installing one.
